Full order of predictions in Saturday Rally

My pick - POINT BORO.

Listed alphabetically

Barnegat
Coach: Tom Sutaris (2nd year, 12-8)
Last year: 12-8

Key returners: Matt McNeal (Jr., SS/P, .397, 6-2, 2.36 ERA); David Gomez (Jr., P/OF, .373, 2-2, 3.41 ERA); Brian Calabria (Jr., SS/P, .317, 2-1); Alex Tynan (Jr., 1B/P, .351; David Gomez (Jr., P/OF, 2-2, 3.41 ERA); Erik Smithman (Jr., P/INF, .339); Sean Collins (Jr., OF, .317); Sean Deering (Jr., 3B, .309); Sam Redmond (So., C); Chris Hadley (Jr., OF); Ryasn McLaughlin (Jrt., OF/P0; Paul Keeser (Jr., OF/2B); Chris Smit (Jr., OF). Key newcomer: Brandon Frustieri (So., OF).

My outlook: A fascinating team of all underclassmen which aquitted itself nobly last year with sophomores and freshmen. Condsiderable youthful talent maybe a year away from serious contention.

Central
Coach: Jerry Frulio (6th year, 50-59)

Last year: 8-14 (6-6 B South

Key returners: Mike Sonntag (Sr., P, 1B, .321, 0-5); Jay Rooth (Sr., 2B, .333); Mike Fay (Jr., P/OF); ; Frank Rodriguez (Sr., 2B/SS, .286); Nick Robertozzi (Sr., P/OF); Josh Skala (Sr., OF). My outlook: Golden Eagles are banking on an influx of young arms to boost their division hopes.

Lakewood
Coach: Gene Drumwright (4th year)
Last year: (7-16, 5-7 B South).

Key returners: Jim D'Aloia (Sr., P/OF, HR, 2-3); Charles Cunliffe (Sr., P/1B, 3-2); Joe Curry (Sr., 3B); Johnny Sanchez (Jr., C/P); Mike Muth (Sr., 1B); Dean Seda (Sr., 1B); Justin Rafferty (Jr., CF). Key newcomers: Angel Riveras (Jr., Util.); Chris Guzeman (Jr., 2B); Jeremey Clarkin (Jr., OF); Max Wolfe (Jr., OF); John Rivera (Sr., SS); Jose Colon (Jr., P/INF).

My outlook: Piners went from Division champs in '05 to out of contention last spring when D'Aloia, Cunliffe, and others gained experience. Clubs needs to find some power, but look for Lakewood to return as a factor.

Manchester
Coach: John Musolf (11th season, 125-102)

Matt Webster (Sr., C); Brian Egan (Jr., C/P); Brian Ward (Jr., P/INF).

My outlook: Nice blend of returning arms and bats. With consistent pitching Hawks can
make a run for the top.

Monsignor Donovan
Coach: Paul Murray (4th year, 33-38)

Key returners: Andy Gannon (Jr., P, 1-1); Ken Ouimet (Jr., P/OF, .297, 2 HR); Paul Rosario (Sr., SS, .411); Chris Khoudary (Sr., 1B, .364); Tom Khoudary (Sr., OF. 264); Adam Murray (Sr., OF, .328); Patrick Henderson (Sr., 3B); Rod Colon (Sr., C, .273); Matt Crosta (Jr., 2B). Key newcomers: Rob Starego (Sr., OF); Dan Stinson (Sr., 3B); Pete Almaguer (Sr., C).

Outlook: The Griffins return a solid nucelus at the plate but young pitchers will have to learn on the job.

Pinelands
Coach: Joe Tobin (4th year, 17-40)
Last year: 3-17 (2-10 B South

Key returners: James Bronkowski (Sr., OF/P , .275, 0-1); Kevin Turlish (Sr., 3B/P, .278, 1-2, 2.91 ERA); Ed Truiitt (Jr., SS/P, .356, 0-1); L.C. Point Pleasant Boro
Coach: Walt Currie (5th year, 74-51).

Last year: 23-7 (13-1 B South)

Key returners: Pat Biserta (Sr., OF/P, .520, 10 HR, 41 RBI, 2-1); Pete Chomiak (Sr, 1B/P, .291, 21 RBI, 8-2); James Simon (Sr., SS, .343); James Squillante (Sr., 1B/DH, .287); Andrew Zanowic (Sr., 3B, .319); Jonathan Tinao (Jr., 2B). Key newcomers: Adam Bobertz (Sr., Dh/1B); Kelly Watkins (Sr., 3B); Mike Gwynn (Jr., P); Bill Heuer (Jr., OF); Mark McGowan (Jr., P); Shane Murray (Jr., OF); Wes Waterman (Jr., P).

My outlook: It'll be a contest to see who draws more intentional walks this year, Biserta or Keith Weinkofsky of Ocean Township. Biserta is a marvelous talent. Panthers need Simon and a few others to also chip in at the plate and Chomiak to take over as an ace to successfully defend their league title.

Hey Tony, what every happened to Tom Carney coaching the Piners? I grew up with Tommy in Lakewood, but no longer live in the area. No disrespect to Drumright, he coached me as a freshman when I played JV for Lakewood. Thanks,

Tom was the baseball coach as you know and also the AD for a while. Then ran into some administrative difficulties as I recall. Left Lakewood, went down to South Jersey. Not sure where he is now. Good guy.

Thanks Tony, Tommie's a great guy, I grew up with the Carney's. He was doing quite well there for a while and then he disappeared. I thought he was on his way to Doc Liptzen status and then he was gone. I'll have to go to the family for the scoop on this. Thanks for the info!
