Football: Matawan lineman leaves Florida State
By Steven Falk
Anthony Grosso, a freshman offensive lineman from Matawan Regional High School, has left Florida State, according to the Tallahassee (Fla.) Democrat. Grosso informedSeminoles' offensive line coach Rick Trickett of his decision on Tuesday, according to the Democrat.
Florida State coach Bobby Bowden did not rule out Groso returning to the team. ""Well, he's not here,'' Bowden said on the school's Web site. ""Nearly every year, some freshman goes home. It's just not what he thought. It's different. It's tough. And so a lot of them come back. I'm usually pretty patient with them. So we can get him some time to think about it before we know for sure.''
The 6-foot-7, 290-pound Grosso was an Asbury Park Press All-Shore first team selection last year.

hey tony..i see you will be covering football this season..i just wanted your opinion on how long branch will fare this season..they return a plethora of starters on defense but lose qb wesley cannon..how do you think they will replace him? and what kind of season do you think they will have?
I will be covering some HS football but secondary y to covering Monmouth U. football...Steve Falk will be our main football guy ...
By the way..I really like that freshman WR from LB over at MU (Terry Paul, 6-2, 205)..Big, pretty fast, and physical.
Don't know about this year but I think he has a chance to be a factor dcown the road...
Just looked through our files and we haven't written the LB preview yet...when I see it I will try and give you a little snap shot of what it says...
is steve falk going to have a blog?
Yes..Steve will have a blog and fairly soon I would think. He will be the main high school football writer .most all football comments should be referred to him..when he gets his blog...
I will be happy to comment, especially on games on games I cover, when the season begins...
o ok thanks..well since you cover MU how do you think terry paul will fit into their plans..he was a classmate of mine
Terry is a big kid, physical, looks like he has good speed, and catches the ball. But he has a zillion guys he's competing with and MU appears well stocked at WR now (led by all NEC WR Adam San Miguel) and for the forseeable future.
Besides Paul, they also have other good freshmen in Troy Yudin and Chris Lewnes (SJ Vianney)
Basically he may be a year or so from being in the mix but I think may eventually find a spot.
I am also wondering if - maybe - they may think about him at D back..or LB..just my own musings...
