Re: TR N vs. Middletown South.

Actually - I was all set to pick TR N. Then I learned of possible injury to Brinson which gave me second thoughts and I went with MS..

Now..on third thought.. I would take TRN again - but it's too late for me to change my pick. So we'll see what happens.

I think it's a less than favorable matchup for MS and a good one for TRN.

Southern vs Brick- No brainer. Bricks offense is anemic. Their defense is good, they gave up only 1 offensive touchdown last week to Lacey but the O is impotent. Southern 21-7
Point Boro-Squan- How healthy are Cahill's running backs? That is the question of the week. I think not healthy enough to have a good game against Point's D. The triple option will give Squan headaches. Point 28-7 as Thompson makes a statement for the rankings.
Middletown South vs. TRN- I like North in this one. Their D is tougher than Wall's was, I don't see them giving up 35 points. On the other hand, I don't see them scoring 34 against South. TRN 21-13
LB vs. Wall- I haven't seen Wall play, saw LB beat Lacey. I'm guessing on thos and going Wall 27-21

I like TRN until I saw that Joe A & Sherlon C had picked them. *lol*

Brinson's pretty good, but TRN's offense isn't totally reliant on him. To me, the question will be how well TRN's DEF will be able to control Campbell's movement of the MS offense.

And, I agree with Tony... this is a FAVORABLE match-up for TRN against a very good MS team.

If TRN wins will they finally get some RESPECT from the APP?

What about if they lose? Will they go back to being ignored like they always are? Let's face it... TRN deserves props as long as they bring the tenacious D and keep it close. Win or lose.

How many other shore teams could beat MS? I sure wouldn't bet on most of them.

Has Pt. Boro won against a top 10 team yet this season?

RBC certainly has an argument for first, but there's no way Wall should get the 1 spot because MS already beat them... and TRE already has a loss to Southern who was beaten tonight by Brick... who already lost to TRN!

Therefore, TRN should be #1 unless and until someone else can beat MS!!!

GO MARINERS!!!

how could any poll have tre over southern? Southern beat tre, thats it. North is hands down number 1. They beat the #1 team and the teams that beat howell and southern.

TRE? NO
RBC? NOPE
Pt. Boro? NOT A CHANCE

Much to Steve Falk's chagrin, TR North DESERVES the #1 ranking. They went to the mountain, and slew the dragon... so to speak. Without their starting RB, no less.

I was a skeptic, but this looks like a VERY good Mariner team. I wouldn't be surprised to see them playing TRE or Southern in back-to-back weeks come playoff time.

On any given Friday and Saturday or Sunday for that matter, ant team can beat another. How could Southern drop. Let's see, Brick is unranked and playing for their playoff life. How many points did Southern give up to Brick Memorial? How badly did TRE beat Brick Memorial after losing last week? What was the outcome of the Lacey-Brick game last Saturday? Who is the larger group school, Southern or Brick? How many points did Southern score against Jackson Memorial? The answer to those questions is the answer to the question you asked!

Let's see:
~Southern gave up 24 points to BM
~East beat BM 42-7
~Lacey beat Brick 22-16
~Both Brick & Southern are group 4 schools
~Southern scored 6 on Jackson

Yup! That is definitely the answer to the question. :D

If TRN is No. 1, it will be because they deserve it, not to my chagrin, end of story.

Re: Let's get real. I think this says it all -

3. RED BANK CATHOLIC 5-0.
Last week: No.‚2. Michael Wilbur had two TD runs of 50 yards and another of 44 yards as the Caseys rolled to a 42-0 win over Keyport. Red Bank Catholic, whose opponents combined record so far this season is 7-20, gets its chance to make a claim for the top spot the next two weeks when it plays Long Branch and Wall. Next game: Friday vs. No.‚ 5 Long Branch (4-1).

Geronimo: Has RBC played anyone that has a winning record, or an opponent that can be considered a viable contender for anything?
