I was asked why I picked Southern over TRN...
Here is my reply...
I have a hunch people will be asking me the same thing about the Neptune pick later Saturday....
Both are (were in Southern's case) underdogs but I like to take an upset shot now and then (see Manalapan pick for instance).
I did not think Southern was an unreasonable pick....was 14-7 game with about five minutes left. It's not like I picked Marlboro to beat them...
If TRN doesn't hit that big pass play after S Reg. scores, who knows happens???
TRN was defintely the better team though.
Their defense is superb and they have more offensive weapons.
I am happy for Chippy Jr. I covered him as a player and now as a coach....(He also did a very decent job as coach at Lakewood some years back)..I thought his play calling Friday night was excellent...
As most of you are`aware S Reg. and TRN could meet again in the SJ IV playoffs
I agree North was the better team, I think they will handle East and win the division. Southern will be a force to reckon next year with the juniors they have coming back, they could still win a playoff game this year. What is Washington Twp's record and who did they beat?
