2007 Class A Central complete

Yes.. we have RBC now!!! Full predicted order of finish in Saturday Rally. This is some tough division.

2007 Class A Central

My pick - RARITAN - In a dog fight with RBC and SJ Vianney
in what could be a slam bang division.

Listed alphabetically

Holmdel
Coach: Ed Reckage (23rd season).

Last year: (8-16-1, 4-8 A Central).

Key returners: Joe Brescia (Sr., P, 4-7); Anthony Ferraioli (Sr., 2B/P, .337, 1-2); Nick Renna (Sr., C/1B, 4 HR); Mike Renna (Sr., 1B); Andrew Paganucci (Sr., DH, 1B, 3 HR); Brian O'Neil (Sr., SS); Kyle O'Gorman (Sr., CF); Ryan Garber (Jr., Util.). Key newcomers: Ian Wladika (So., P); Brian Amabile (Jr., Util.); Chris Monfasini (Jr., LF); Tim Baisley (Sr., P); Mike Bock (Sr., C);

My outlook: Injury to senior shortstop Mickey Zudonyi (.434, 4 HR, 26 RBI) is a major blow with Nick Renna and Ferraioli looking to pick up the slack. Some experience on the mound and an improved defense are reasons for optimism.

Manasquan
Coach: Art Gordon (108-77)
Last year: 10-13 (7-5 A Central)
Key returners: Alex Otchy (Sr., 2B/P, .250, 2-2); Tom Phillips (Jr., SS, .343, HR); Stephen Schatzman (Sr., OF/P); Brad Newman (Sr., 1B, .250, 3 HR); Stephen Kircher (Jr., OF/P); A. J. Miller (Sr., C, .328, 2 HR). Key newcomers: Chris Dettlinger (Sr., P/3B); Jon Mason (Sr., 3B/P); Chris VanStolk (Jr., 1B/P); Ed Czech (Jr., 1B/P); Pat Nolan (Sr., P); Mike Foerst (Sr., 2B); Pat Brown (Sr., OF).

My outlook: Warriors hope the winning knack of Newman and a number of players from their unbeaten football team carries over to the spring. Manasquan should hit but may need to develop more pitching.

Raritan
Coach: T. J. O'Donnell (134-75, 9th year).
Last year: 17-10 (6-6 A Central).
Key returnees: Marc Zecchino (Sr., P/S, .439, 3 HR, 39 RBI,
7-1)); Charlie Rivera (Jr., P/SS, 4-3, .291); Eddie Martin
(Jr., P/OF, 4-2); Chris Clayton (Sr., 1B, .390, 21 RBI); Joe
Doerrer (Jr., CF, .345); Dave Shrum Jr., C, .262); Kevin Yorks
(Sr., 2B). Key newcomers: Tom Evancho (Jr., 1B); Devin Noonan
(Jr., INF); Anthony Cascio (Sr., OF); Rob Palmer (Jr., OF);
Vic Scanzani (Sr., OF); John Gazerwitz (Jr., C); Corey Chonko
(Sr., P).

My outlook: Rockets seem ready to take off for a big year
with 15 returning pitching wins and a potent attack.

Red Bank
Coach: Steve DePolo (7th year, 75-57)
Last year: 8-11 (5-7 B North)

Key returnees: Tim Johnson (Jr., P/OF, .372, 2-2); Alex Lindsey (Sr., P/INF, 0-1); Kyle Grant (Jr., INF/OF, .294); Matt Gilson (Sr., OF); Zach Honecker (Sr., INF, P). Key newcomers: Ryan Maguire (Sr., 2B/OF); Cole Gettis (Sr., C); Robbie Grover (So., INF); Cody O'Malley (So., P); Josh Satterfield (Sr., OF/P); Eric Raybon (So., INF); Colin Lang (Fr., P/OF); Casey Young (So., INF); Jake Kalish (Fr., P/INF).

My outlook: Youthful team has promise. Siblings of former standouts Kalish and Young hope to gain some varsity time.

Red Bank Catholic
Coach: Tony Martinez (7th year, 92-65)
Last year: (18-9, 9-3 A Central)
Key returnees: J.C. Menna (Sr., SS, P, 7-1, 2.04 ERA); Mike Yaccarine (Jr., P, 3-2 5.2 ERA);
Kyle O'Neill (Jr., 1B/P .361); (Tom Higgins Jr., 2B .309); John Oriolo (Sr, UTIL/P, .361; Tim Griswold (Sr., OF .261); George Stipisich (Sr., OF); Patrick Quinn (Sr., OF/P, .417); Jeff Couch (Sr., OF .389); Mike Oriolo (Sr., OF). Other key returners: Mike McGann Sr P; Mike Perillo-Gentile Sr IF; Francis Valentino Sr OF. Key Newcomers: Jake Beim (So., C); Nick Romano (Jr., C); Gene DeSimone (Jr., OF); LB Ligget Jr. OF)

Outlook: A hot ticket will be any time Raritan's Zecchino and Menna hook up. The teams split two games last season. One of these clubs looks like the overall division winner.

Rumson-Fair Haven
Coach - Kevin James (6th year)
Last year: 12-12 (4-8 A Central)
Key Returners: Ben Miller (Sr., P, 6-2, 2.19 ERA); Brian Velsor (Sr., P, 3-1, 3.10 ERA); Chris Miller (Sr., P); Tom McDonough (Jr., P); Steve Giordano (Sr. OF, .443, 2 HR, 25 RBI); Mike McDonough (Sr. INF/P, .367, 4 HR, 25 RBI); Mike Bowe (Sr. 1B, .316); Tucker Bowe (Sr., INF, .290); DJ Breckenridge (Jr., INF, .293); Matt Wassel (Jr., INF, .304); John Lembeck (Jr., OF, .340). Key newcomers: Gary Cosetllo (Jr., C); Sam Gehret (Sr., OF); Tim Dean (Sr., C); Duece Thompson (Sr., P).

My outlook - Miller, Velsor and others should enjoy pitching for this lineup of five .300 hitters and Tucker Bowe almost made it six. Don't know how well Duece Thompson will fare but he's in the running for "Name of the Year.''

St. John Vianney
Coach: Mike Morgan (first year).
Last year: 16-10 (8-4 A Central).

Key returnees: Paul Bacigalupi (Sr., P/INF, .4-1, 3.42 ERA);
Chris Ruffler (Jr., P/INF, 4 HR, 2-0); Chris Lewnes (Sr., OF,
.315, 27 RBI); Nick Scarillo (Sr., INF, .262, 4 HR, 20 RBI);
Gary Fare (Sr., INF, .385, HR); Andrew Archer (Sr., OF, .270);
Joe Amore (Sr., OF). Key newcomers: Matt Wiley (Sr., P/OF);
Sean Beinert (Jr., INF/P); Greg Caso (Jr., C); Greg DeLuise
(Jr., OF); Chris Fox (Jr., OF/P), Sean Krulewski (Jr., INF/P).

My outlook: If Bacigalupi is as hard to hit as his name is
to spell, Lancers are going a long way. Just missed the
non-public division title last year and has a shot
again at that and maybe the overall title.
