Hughes' shut down of Ocean ( the supposed # 1 team) is the biggest story of the day. The kid has to be good, if he shut down this so-called Murderer's Row lineup as they have been referred to. Slate did not face the lineup that Hughes faced. Pretty impressive to stay that strong and thrown that many pitches in his first game of the season against the # 1 team and a very highly state-ranked team in Ocean Township
I tend to agree with you though it was a tough call and toss-up and both teams earned Press headlines.
Free. Twp. lineup with Rodger Wilmot is no walk in the (Patriot) park though Ocean's on paper is one of the more formidable around.
Wall win behind Hughes certainly has Press Poll and Class B North implications.
