The committee that was listed chooses the team per the recommendations of the players' coaches.

Rusbarsky had a very good year as well. I do not have the numbers in front of me.

Sometimes players have other commitments, not saying that was the case here, I would not know.

As in All-Shore there are always some controversial selections.

Also..the coaches consider the make up of the team. Can a player play more than one position, etc. etc. Experience, senior over juniors, etc.

Battaglia was not the only player with very good stats who did not make it. They can't take everybody.
I am aware he had an excellent year.

The players that you would think were locks to make it did for the most part, far as I can tell.

Re: Bresnahan. Have you seen him play? I have for the last two year. He is one of the best players in the Shore Conference right now.

One of the tougher calls there for sure. I have no problems with the selections, however. Especially if Zecchino was going to be taken as a pitcher.

How do you not have a kid with a 10-2 record on this team what happened to Bacigalupi from SJV

What about Bacigalupi from SJV

Re: Bac' from SJV. Guess you ave to ask the committee. I, personally, have no problem wih the pitchers selected.

I have never seen him pitch but selections are not based soley on stats.

There are a bunch of .400-500 hitters who were not selected either.

the rbc pitcher hasn't done much at all this year/can't win big games and seems to be riding on rep only

what about Fereno from East? He had a good season at 6-0.

Re: Fereno. Yes he did have a good year. It looks like they went with mostly senior pitchers. As I said..I really have few problems with this team.

Tony...who selects the all-shore team?

June 3, 2007 at 5:22 PM

Coaches select their own division teams....then each division is represented by a coach at the All-Shore meeting at the Press...

A North: Mike Yorke (C Neck); A South Frank Malta (Jackson); B North Ted Jarmusz (Monmouth); A Central Art Gordon (Squan, B Central Bart McInerney (St. Rose).

Players are nominated and voted on at the meeting, but coaches may not vote for their own players....I cast all tie-breaking votes - and ultimately have the final say...

Even after the meeting some final decisions may be put off until after the SCT and or NJSIAA finals...(in other words, a player who may be All Shore First Team borderline - very close one way or the other - has a big SCT final or a big NJSIAA week helps his cause.

- Now if a player was not in consideration for All-Shore but hits three home runs or pitches a gem in any one of those mentioned situations (games) it might help to lift him onto third team, maybe second, depending on his original status.

This is not an exact science no matter who you slice it, but it's always interesting.

Also..the fact that a player has earned Carpenter Cup status or may be selected to another "All" team that runs prior to the Press' team, has no bearing and carries no clout with the Press selections.

What about Paul Rosario from Monsignor Donovan. He had an outstanding year. Much better than alot of those chosen.
