Former TR East/Brookdale player signs with Arizona

Former Brookdale Community College and Toms River High School East outfielder Jim Principe signed with the Arizona Diamondbacks Tuesday, his father, Paul Principe said.
Financial terms were not disclosed.
Principe, who led Brookdale to the National Junior College Athletic Association Division III World Series this spring, was drafted in the 37th round, pick 1,116 overall, by Arizona last Friday in Major League Baseball's First-Year Player Draft.
Paul Principe said that his son will spend a few days at the Diamondbacks' mini-camp in Tucson, Ariz.Arizona will then assign him to one of its two Rookie League teams in either Missoula, Mont., or Yakima, Wash. oth of those teams begin their seasons next week.

Paul Principe said the Diamondbacks want his son to play center field.

Principe, who attended the University of New Orleans before transferring to Brookdale, hit .417 with six home runs this spring.
