NEPTUNE VS. ASBURY IS A INTERESTING GAME. AP BEAT SHORE, NEPTUNE LOST TO SHORE. I DON'T KNOW HOW NEPTUNE LET SHORE WIN.

The poll is a tough one. I am torn. When I was younger I loved the thanksgiving game. I also liked it when I went away to college because it was a guaranteed place to see people I went to school with. Also, it is hard for me to part wit tradition (even if Holmdel this year is ending its thanksgiving game with Keyport after 40 years… I would like to add a few expletives here to describe that decision…)

On the other hand, older now and having kids, I cannot get out to my alma mater at 10am in the morning on Thanksgiving Day. If my kids were playing, it would be a different story.

All in all, I cannot make a logical argument for the Thanksgiving game other than tradition. The question then becomes... is it even worth it.

Although Im from New York Ive been following the Jersey Shore Football season this year because my nephew plays for Keansburg. This weekend in NY they will have the Championships at the Carrier Dome in Syracuse with the format being Class AA,A,B,C,D with Class AA being the larger school.I guess what Im trying to say here is why does Jersey have so many Groups and why do only 4 of the Championships take place at Rutgers.Maybe if they get rid of these Turkey-Day games which could get players injured before the Championships it would also create more dates and times for some of these teams like Toms River North to play at Rutgers.Just think we could all be going to games that really matter this weekend and next weekend.

Big Joe is right! NJ has what? 800+ high schools? Thanksgiving games mean something, or should, to both the players and the community. As a player, when you win that game, your varsity jacket carries some weight at the mall, or in town.(Locally!) For the community, it makes for a great day- seeing old friends, remembering classics from the past, getting some fresh air, and going back home for turkey and new football stories. While we're at it, for all the schools that now have lights, keep your games on Thursday morning- it's part of the day! No one wants to be out at night in late November, and many can't make it due to travel.

Let's remember who pays for all this, too- the community! Last point-the reason football is the one sport that doesn't play to a single champion is that with the other sports you can play 2 or 3 games in a week without risk of injury- since football is a once-a-week at best, you'd need a 12 game season. Keep Thanksgiving. Teach our kids that tradition matters. There is more to life than the NJSIAA.
