2007 Class B Central complete/full predicted order of finish in Saturday Rally

We have all the teams: Asbury Park; Henry Hudson, Keansburg, Keyport, Mater Dei, Point Beach, Shore, St. Rose

My pick - ST. ROSE

Listed alphabetically

Asbury Park
Coach: Johnny Grasso (1st year)
Last year 0-18 (0-14 B Central)
Key returnees: Brian Walker (Sr., P/OF); Brian Hartnett
(Sr., 1B); Kyle Hill (So., P/OF); Joseph Rios (Sr.,
P/OF/INF). Key newcomers: George Stephens (Fr., P/SS); Ron
Madelone (So., CF); Carolis Alica (Jr., C/3B); Alvin Hare
(Sr., P); Kraig Johnson (Fr., C); Darius Osborn (So., P); Ron
Meachem (Fr., C/OF); Jeron Valentine (Fr., P/INF); F. Vanegas (Jr., 3B).

Outlook: Will take their lumps, but Grasso seems to have
the program headed in the right direction.

Henry Hudson
Coach: Tom Lynch (2nd year, 4-17).
Last year: 4-17 (2-12).

Key Returners: Kevin O'Donnell (Sr., OF, .367), Brian Olofson (Jr. P/OF, .386, 5 HR, 26 RBI, 1-6), Dru Karaman (Sr. P/3B, .473); Nick Barradale (Jr. P/1B, .324, 1-1); A.J. Weimer (Sr., OF); Eric Silakowski (Jr, SS); Cranston Dean (Jr., 2B); Johnathan Grogan (Jr., OF); Trent Karaman (So., C); Jeff Olofson (So., OF). Key newcomers: Keith O'Sullivan, (Sr., DH), Rob Dell'Omo (Sr. P), Dan Kissaday (Sr., OF).

My outlook: Six sophomores and two freshman who were starting by the end of last season return along with Olofson and Karaman. They form a club that should hit, has a sound infield, and if some pitchers mature, appears to have a realistic shot at competing for at least a .500 season.

Keansburg
Coach: Brian Kmak (9th Season)
Last year:13-10 (9-5 B Central)
Assistant Coaches: Mike Scarano (732-233-9479)
Key returnees: James O'Hanlon (Sr. P/C, .443, 3-4, 3.78 ERA);
Jordan Edwards (Sr. 3B, .393); Dan Carusotto (Sr. CF, .275);
Brad Hoover (Sr. 2B, .254); Anthony Valle (Jr. SS, .406); Joe
Mickle (Jr., P/INF. , .286, 4-1, 4.20 ERA); Declan French (Sr.
1B, .471); Justin Lombardi (Sr., OF). Key newcomers: Justin
Manzo (So., P/1B); Scott Pillar (Jr. OF/C); Mike Peda (Sr. OF)

My outlook: A wealth of experience returns for the Titans
who should be dangerous in the division and in Central Jersey
I where they bowed in the 2006 final.

Keyport
Coach: Rob Stetz (1st year)
Last year: 8-11 (6-8 B Central)
Key returnees: Craig Younkofski (Sr., 1B/P, 4 HR, 1-1); Adam Nelson (Sr., 1B/P, 3-4);
Kevin Costello (Sr., 3B); Eric Devlin (Jr., SS); Brian Derechialo
(Jr., C); Mike Windeknecht (Jr., 2B, P). Key newcomers: Jerry Hettrick
(Sr., CF); Matt Farkas (Jr., LF); Tim Snyder (So., RF); Gilly Olini (Jr., OF).

My outlook: Younkofski swings a big bat, Nelson has some pitching wins in his book, and it appears how they fare may tell the story.

Mater Dei
Coach: Patrick Riddell (3rd year, 23-22)
Last year: 11-11 (10-4 B Central)

Key returners: Tom Matthew (Sr., 1B/P, .359, 4 HR, 22 RBI, 2-2); Mike Pellicane (Sr., OF/C, .406, 4 HR, 31 RBI); Mike Ferrara (Sr., C/1B, .379, 2 HR, 20 RBI). Key newcomers: John Supon (Sr., P/OF); Justin Verga (Jr., P/3B); Mike Lang (Jr., P/OF); Anthony Meli (Sr., SS/3B); James Carroll (Jr., P); T.J. Tenco (Sr., 2B).

My outlook: Seraphs can swing the bats. Need to find another pitcher or two to augment Matthew. Will miss the bat and arm of Mike Doherty.

Point Pleasant Beach
Dr. Ray Ellis (8th year).

Last year: (8-16, 5-9) B Central.
Key returnees:Craig Gourley (Sr., P 4-0); Sam
Sciamarelli (Sr., P/OF, .259, HR, 1-4); Colin Trautman (Sr., P/1B, .397, 2 HR,
0-3); Dean Daly (Sr., C, .295); Shane Ferguson (Jr., SS, .269); Nick
Ardito (Jr., P/OF); Kevin Prima (Sr., OF). Key newcomers:
Eric Lenahan (Sr., P/SS); P.J. Seggel (So., P/3B); Jakle
Delano (Jr., 2B); Kyle Barnes (Fr., 2B)

Outlook: Gourley, Sciamarelli, and Troutman have been through the wars. The Beach may field one of its more dangerous teams.

Shore Regional
Coach: Jeff Karpell (2nd Season)
2006 Record 13-10 (10-4)

Key Returnees: Tom Juliano (sr. 2b, .378, 11sb) Bill Cerruti (sr. P/1b, .305 3-3 3.87 era)
Erik Swinton (sr. P/OF, 2-2 3.88 era) Rob Somers (jr. SS/P, .400, 2HR, 3-3 3.63 era)
John Kuhlthau (sr. 3B); Jeff Walstein (sr. C); Drew Mcmahon (sr. OF); Zach Scott (sr. OF)
Todd Juliano (so. C/inf.)

Key Newcomers: Shawn Metz (jr. OF) John Benedict (jr. P/OF); J.P. Mahoney (jr. P/OF); Rob Corsi (so, P/OF);
Dennis Galvin (jr. OF); Chris Mouton (sr. OF); Anthony Zungri (sr. OF); Anthony Valenti (sr. OF)

My outlook: Devils return eight pitching wins and Juliano and Somers are coming off big years at the plate. Shore hopes to make a run at the division which St. Rose has held under lock and key.

St. Rose
Coach: Bart McInerney (12th year, 212-77)
Last year: 21-2 (14-0 B Central)
Key returners: Anthony Ranaudo (Sr., P/1B, .443, 5 HR, 35 RBI, 7-0, 0.96 ERA); Chris Bresnahan (So., SS, .476, 21 RBI); Mike Kyle (Sr., LF, .286); Vin Vinci (Jr., OF/P, .368, 2-1). Key newcomers: John McGrath (So., 2B); Casey Cannon (Jr., 1B/P); Brian Donohoe (Sr., ONF/P); Bill Kurtz (So., INF/P); Shawn McNally (Sr., C); Eric Bellino (Sr., INF/P); Brian Poppert (Jr., P/OF); Tim Niziolek (Sr., INF).

My outlook: Begins the year with a 28-game divisional winning streak behind the blue-chip talent of Ranaudo and Bresnahan. Need Vinci and another pitcher to step into that No. 2 or 3 slot especially with the tough non-confereence schedule looming.
