lakewood has snuck in some good wins for themselves. they sure keep playing and that's what we like to see. nice going boys..... you should be proud of youselves...
Congrats to Manchester winning B South in spite of never scoring first in any games.
Whats that give him like 12
"post season" HR's ??? that is an incredible stat... My friend says there were 2 less wind shields in the parking lot at SJV the last one went over 450' they now know what Coach Del felt like that first encounter with
"Big Country"
Tony..I love your comments and you obviously don't have to print this but please don't start comparing what Mark Fink and Todd Frazier did in the past and what Keith Winkofki is doing now to what the shore kid is putting up
(9 Hr's thus far) I think you'll lose all credibility with the real SC BB fans. we have all observed what those divisions have and please don't compare those kids to the A North-A South kids..I hate to knock the kids in those lower divisions but TRE and Jackson face better #4 pitchers than those lower div school's #1 pitchers.. keep it all in perspective and make it all GOOD for SC baseball and ALL of the fans will appreciate it. Thanks for keeping BB in the forefront and hope to see you at a game soon
I thought I would print that because I think it will make for some lively conversation..I'll add my 2 cents in a bit...
Some of us actually think that Shore Reg is a good SC team and plays a pretty good schedule..hopefully we can play in some big game in the next month and "Our HR hitter" can show you that we belong with you "Big Boyz"
Blue Devil For- Ever
PS our guy can match up with any one in the shore even with
"Big Country" over in Ocean Twp
First, I'm not worried about my credibility.
Secondly..nine HR, eight in seven games, is a helluva accomplishment even if you're playing stick ball.
I'm not comparing Todd Juliano to anyone, or going hold it against him that he's playing in Class B Central.
This is a trmendous record at a school (Shore Reg) which has a blue-chip baseball tradition dating back to Freddie Kampf (who played minor league ball) in the
60's and this is beleived to be a school record for a season at Shore.
However many home runs he hits this season or in in his career count in the Shore Conference just as much as any hit by Weinkofsky, Biserta, Todd Frazier, etc.
Hundreds, heck, thousands of kids have been playing "small school" baseball for years and have had just as much of a chance to accomplish this as Juliano.
Personally, I'm thrilled for the kid.
No one knows what he could do at a "higher level," but that's not the point. Safe to say he's been a one-man wrecking crew in the league he's being asked to play in.
There. Now I feel better.
1st and foremost any kid that can hit ANY ball over the fence is a plus hitter at ANY HS in NJ but what the Ocean kids did to my SJV team today was sick. The 1st bomb was cruel(and Mr Graham I have to tell you that the catcher he hit an 02 curve for the 1st HR, it was about 400 and the 2nd dinger was a 0-2 fastball that as the SJV kids were yelling
"Give hime the heater Ricky" he hit it and the ball went at least 450' into the parking lot, I have to tell you I'm not a big Ocean fan and have rooted agianst then in the past but I do appreciate good HS sports (and I do love the the black and gold of SJV) but those Ocean kid can kill the ball. Can any one play up to this level in the SC in 2007, I'm convinced as an SJV supporter that it will be tough
and, hitting against a "better" pitchering in other conferences? If the pitcher is GOOD then the batter isn't hitting homeruns......that is a contradiction of terms. A good batter hit against good pitching easier than poor pitching. Poor pitching is well, poorly placed and gives you nothing to hit. What is the complaint, "oh he's terrible, can't throw it over the plate"? If that's the case, home runs are more difficult. Good ptichers get it over the plate and challenge the batter. They give you more to hit. The batter that hits a home run is doing his job no matter which division he's in. He'd probably do the same elsewhere. Give credit where credit is due. Don't know this boy, but kudos to him!
Guys if you really are fans of Shore Conference baseball you should all be excited about the young talent showing thier stuff this year.We have the freshman Kalish at Red Bank, the Juliano brothers at Shore Reg.,a freshman catcher(Wagner) at Long Branch and some good young talent at Neptune.
These kids are playing at a level ways beyond thier years.Instead of knocking what they are doing you should all be happy that the Shore Conference will still be in good hands and getting stronger in the upcoming years.
People remember there was baseball here at the shore before 2007. I fyou want to start discounting what some of these players are doing in the smaller conferences maybe we need to start bring up some players from years gone past like Kemp and Bova just to name a few.
The last post shows why the s.c. is what it is because of the talent that keeps showing up every year.I coached against 1 of those kids mentioned above and he was a 13 year old last spring.
I would like to add the soph. from Ocean,Rosencraft(?spelling)to that list.
That's Jamie Rosenkranz so you're in the ball park!
ALL records were made to be broken and we wish all of these boys in all divisions well in their attempts to reach the top, BUT I can see some good points from the other blogers in reference to difference in talent level from division to division. In A North or South it is only natural that they have many more players that come out for the teams, just because of the size of the school. These teams naturally have more depth so in the 4th game of the week those teams will have a pretty good pitcher throwing as opposed to a group 1 or 2 school in another division in that same
4th game of the week. A discussion for the ages !!!!
Good luck to Juliano and Winkosky in their endevours
Just like every ball I ever hit during my high school days!
