CBA`rallies for 2-1 win, CN downs Ocean 5-4

SJV starter: Sr RH Paul Bacigalupi (10-2). CBA starter : Sr RH Dave Laufer (6-2)

SJV top first: Matt Deering singles to left (Deering steals second). Marc Teel sac bunt (Deering to third). Chris Lewnes line drive sac fly to right. Gary Fare punches a single to center. Nick Scarillo:

CBA bottom first: Marc Sansevere grounds to short. Steve McSherry
singles to left. Mike Galeotafiore lines to second base into double play.

SJV top 2nd: Andrew Archer singles to right. Chris Ruffler walks. (CBA`coach Kenney to the mound). Joe Amore pops bunt to catcher. Ed Cetnar bunt single. Bases loaded for top of the order. Deering grounds to second into 4-6-3 double play.

CBA hitters due 3-4-5: Dave Laufer high fly ball to left. Jim Laufer safe on error and grounder to short in the hole. Scott Micallef grounds into 6-4-3 DP.

SJV top third hitters due: 2-3-4. Teel grounds to third. Lewnes safe on SS throwing error (Lewnes steals second). Fare walks. (runners double steal). Scarillo walks (bases loaded). Archer strikes out swinging on ball in the dirt. Ruffler lines to center.


CBA hitters due 7-8-9. Slate (yes, Kyle Slate is DHing) Slate ground ball base hit to left. Dan Diaz grounds into 4-6-3 double play. A.J. Szatkowski strikes out.


SJV top 4th hitters due 8-9-1. Amore strikes out swinging. Cetnar thrown out by second basemam Diaz on teriffic back hand play up the middle. Deering comebacker to Laufer.


CBA bottom fourth hitters due: 1-2-3. CBA` failed to score in fourth. Galeo doubles with two out. D. Laufer strikes out swinging.

SJV fifth: SJV fails to score (am having some blog issues). CBA Left fielder McSherry leaping back hand catch to Rob Gary Fare`of at least a double.

CBA bottom fifth (4-5-6): Jim Laufer called out on strikes. Micallef grounds to short. Slate singles in the SS hole. Daiz grounds into 6-4 force play.

SJV top 6th hitters due( 6-7-8): Archer grounds to third. Ruffler singles to left. (Ruffler thrown out attempting to steal second). Amore called out on strikes.


CBA bottom sixth hitters due 9-1-2. Zach Tannenbaum PH. Tannenbaum singles to center (Szatkowski runs). Sansevere sac bunt. McSherry ground rule double to left. Szat scores, 1-1. Matt Wiley RH relieves Bacigalupi. Balk. Runner to third. Galeo strikes out swinging on a curve ball. D. Laufer intentionally walked (new pitcher for SJV, So. RH Kevin Mac Lachlan). D. Laufer steals second. McSherry scores on wild pitch. J. Laufer called out on strikes.

SJV top seventh hitters due: 9-1-2. Cetnar pops out. Deering flies to center. Teel pops to third. CBA wins, 2-1.





Colts Neck vs. Ocean updates (from Steve Falk who is covering the game for the Press)

Starting pitchers: for CN Ken Potis RH (3-0). For Ocean Sr. RH Tony DeSantis (usually the catcher, 1-0).

A.J. Rubarsky solo HR top of the first. CN leads, 1-0. Ocean batting bottom first.

CN leads 2-1 bottom second, Eric Hinkle RBI single for Ocean in second.

Ocean leads 3-2 after two on RBI singles by Neal Yaffe and Kyle Norman.

LH Dom Hayes relieves Potis for Colts Neck.

Top third: Rusbarsky hits second solo HR of the game, ties the score 3-3.

Jeff Parenty pitching for Ocean.

Bottom third, game tied 4-4, Ocean's Jamie Rosenkranz solo HR.


Bottom fourth, CN leads 5-4.

Top seventh, CN leads, 5-4.

CN wins, 5-4. Hayes stops Ocean in relief. Rusbarsky 4-for-4, 2 HR.

Tony,The Shore Conf needs to make a change in the SCT. Why can't they have the semi finals at a neutral site and play the games back to back. they do it in a lot of other sports and they do it in softball. There have been some great semi finals over the years. it would be fun to see both games plus the press coverage would be great.

Hi Tony, I'm sitting here on a rainy Florida afternoon and I found your blog. I can't believe you're still doing HS baseball. I played for 'Sguan 1968-1970 the Chip Hirst, Skip Whitman teams and didn't you do our games back then. You must of just been out of college then because I'm 54. Keep up the great work. Bill Martin

Another JV game at OT..I finally get to see a game and I see Rubarski (Top player in my mind) get to hit 2 dinggers off JV pitchers from OT..what gives???I want OT Hinkle, Rosencrantz, Norman,,VS CBA Slate,,Laufer,,ET..Al not a weak hitting Colts neck or SJV..heck just send Rubarski to the final with Sclafani and play 2 on 9 and see what flies !!!
