Gloucester Catholic ends Ranaudo's career and season for St. Rose
GLOUCESTER CATHOLIC 5, ST. ROSE 1: Bill Donovan's two-out, two-run single was the key hit when the Rams (22-5) tagged St. Rose ace Anthony Ranaudo (5-2) for three runs in the first inning and added another in the second to oust the Purple Roses (19-5) in a Non-Public B semifinal.
Ranaudo, considered a prime candidate to be selected in in next week's Major League Baseball First-Year Player Draft, spent Friday morning on an invited visit to Yankee Stadium
The 6-7 right-hander struck out five and allowed six hits over four innings vs. Gloucester Catholic to end his career 21-4.
Chris Bresnahan had an RBI single for St. Rose in the fifth inning and Owen Stewart went 2-for-3.

Tony this is exactly what some SC BB followers have been talking about on your blog for weeks now..St Rose (NOT the fault of the players at all) refuses to step up to the plate in their schedule...early exit 2 years in a row in states, MCT and SCT. They hadn't played a game in over a week !!!! Could the coach pick up a game with a team that got knocked out somewhere???
It certainly was a bitter end for St. Rose though GC is hardly chopped liver.
Don't know why Bart didn't schedule another game in between...maybe he tried but most teams were done for the year by then.
St. Rose is locked into that B Central sked.
Aside from that, they played scheduled non div. games (3) in the SC
had another where the opponent pulled out on them, and TR North, MDon, and Squan.
So that's six (should have been seven) reg. season non div. games.
Only so many days in a week..
Yes, it would be nice to see them add another in season non-conf "quality" opponent or two but scheduling isn't THAT easy ..just ask any AD.
