Rally Round Table Discussion games - Weekend media coverage

Rally Round Table should be on line Thursday morning....

After a heated (trust me on this) discussion on what other game to add..the panel voted 3-1 for TR East-Mainland despite the avalanche of votes asking for Holmdel-Gov. Livingston. Personally, I voted for Holmdel.

Please remember - it was a non-binding poll.

I am picking Holmdel to win the game based on its defense and Ryan Haslett's ability to make plays - (Don't let me down guys, I need every correct pick I can collect!)

Football forecaster Josh Newman has bravely volunteered to take the bullet for the TR East trio. He will discuss why he voted for the TR East game with you if you go to his blog.......

If Holmdel plays Rumson next week I can safely say that game will make the cut.

Earlier we added Brick vs. Sayreville (Warren Wolf's 50th year and all) to the Round Table..

We are doing Howell vs. Colts Neck because it is the only Shore Conference game; TR N because it is our No. 1 team; and Midd. South because the Eagles are trying to tie Manasquan's Shore Conference record of five sectional titles in a row.

As stated earlier - None of the above except Colts Neck/Howell was locked in stone and the above poll was not binding, though it was taken into consideration....

Also - Colts-Neck Howell will be this week's RALLYCAST Game of the Week. Scores and updates may be accessed here at www.app.com or on the RallyScoreline 1-800-822-9770.

The TR-North vs. Atlantic City game will be carried by our good pals on radio on 1160`AM and 1310 AM.

The Asbury Park Press is the only media organization that will have a reporter at every game this weekend involving a Shore Conference team (just thought I'd toss in that little plug)

Southern may be still worth a look this week?
If TR North wins and Southern wins it could be a match up in a week or so...?
Tony, SORRY!
We all thought that the TRN vs Souther game should/could have been more.
may be the coaches at Southern should have opened it up more the first half?
all in all they kept TRN high powered "O" to 17 points, even though their D was on the field (seemed like forever)
7-0 at half, next time could be different-Hey they were your #1 & #2 in South Jersey, let's see how they finish out. Hopefully Southern doesn't play the prevent "O" again and kill the clock while down ...........

I wasn't disappointed. (well, I did pick Southern!).

But .it was a good game. That TRN defense is No. 1 for a reason.

I would have liked to have seen S Reg. hold TRN on that last drive that resulted in a FG and give the Rams a chance to tie the game..might have made for some late drama (and kept my pick alive!)

I'm really not sure what S Reg. can do differently if they meet again..I think they would need a key turnover or two to get them over the hump...

The BIGGER question for Rams fans right now is..can Southern win its first playoff game in its 50 years..(well, to be fair, playoffs started in in '74)..at Washington Twp. (7-1) Friday night..!@!#@!??

obviously I am biased as an alumni, but I would be interested in seeing what you guys say about the Holmdel v. Gov. Livingston game. The question being, are they really only a product of their schedule (which is not their fault)? Would Manasquan have been viewed the same playing the same schedule with the same record (no of course not as history has shown and rightfully so).

Basically, by analogy, is it like the NFL? Are the Cowboys just beating up on a weak NFC or are they actually good.

We need to hear more about the Hornets of Holmdel...they are the biggest suprise this season and the most interesting story in my completely biased opinion. It looks like Holmdel is finally becoming the great football town it always had the potential to be. Go get em Friday night boys.

Well I disagree with your choice to ignore the only other undefeated shore conference team's playoff game in order to highlight programs that already receive their fair share of press. Unfortunate on the part of the APP, but I suppose if they win, they will get their fair due eventually. If not, then I suppose there is always next year.

Me: OK...I can under stand your disagreement.

You said - in order to highlight programs that already receive their fair share of press.

Me: Holmdel has pobably recived more press this year than TR East - or at least on the same level when you consider

1. Holmdel has been previewed a few times on Friday in the Press; 2. on Round Table several times;

3. and the Barnegat game (a great game by the way as you know) was on RallyCast.
