Lancers ride a 10-spot past Middletown South

ST. JOHN VIANNEY 11, MIDDLETOWN SOUTH 8: Marc Teel, Chris Lewnes, and Andrew Archer had two-run singles, and Chris Ruffler a two-run double when the Lancers pounced on four pitchers for 10 runs in the fifth inning to wipe out a 5-1 deficit and defeat the Eagles (0-2) in a non-conference game.
Lewnes, Matt Deering, and Eddie Cetnar each had two hits for Vianney.
Craig Sweeney hit a three-run home run for Middletown South in the second inning and Miles Santo a two-run shot in the third when the Eagles took the lead.
Vianney sent 14 batters to the plate and had six hits, drew three walks, and had a batter hit by a pitch.
Paul Bacigalupi went five innings to go 2-0 and Kevin MacLachlan earned the save.
