Another Kalish is making his mark in Shore Conference baseball.

Jake Kalish, younger brother of former Red Bank Catholic standout and current Boston Red Sox farmhand Ryan, is beginning to make a name for himself at a different high school.

Young Kalish, a freshman, singled home the winning run in the bottom of the seventh inning Thursday and struck out six over six innings to help lead Red Bank Regional to a 6-5 victory over Raritan in a Shore Conference Class A Central game.

""He pitched well overall,''said Steve DePolo, Red Bank coach. ""He was up at bat in the bottom of the seventh with a full count and two out. It was a big spot for anyone.''
Kalish singled to center to score Zach Honecker to end the game.

Alex Lindsey pitched the seventh inning for Red Bank (2-4, 2-4) to earn the victory.

Kalish survived a rough fourth inning when Marc Zecchino of Raritan (2-4, 0-4) belted a three-run home run and Charlie Rivera a two-run shot when it tied the score, 5-5.

""He gave up five hits in a row in that inning,''said DePolo. ""That was really his only trouble spot. He only gave up one more hit.''

Tim Johnson went 2-for-3 with an RBI for Red Bank and Cole Gettis had a two-run single in the first inning.

KEANSBURG 4, MATER DEI 3: Declan French's opposite field single to left with two out in the bottom of the seventh scored Danny Carusotto and gave the Titans (4-3, 4-2) the Class B Central victory over the Seraphs (0-6, 0-5).

Carusotto had singled with one out and stole second with two outs.

French scored the tying run in the sixth on Brad Hoover's second double of the game.

Jeff Poncetti, who drove in all three of Mater Dei's runs, gave the Seraphs a 3-2 lead with a two-run homer in the fourth.

James O'Hanlon (2-0) pitched three scoreless innings of relef with six strikeouts to pick up the win.

CENTRAL 11, MONSIGNOR DONOVAN 9 (11):Junior Mike Fay hit a two-run home run in the top of the 11th inning and Rocco Guglione pitched the last four innings of shutout ball to send the Golden Eagles (2-5, 2-3) to a Class B South win over the Griffins (4-4, 4-3).

Shawn Kessler doubled home two runs when Central scored five times in the first inning and Fay had an RBI single.

Nick Nigro went 4-for-5 with a double and two RBI for Donovan and Patrick Henderson went 3-for-5 with a solo home run in the first inning and Adam Murray went 3-for-5.

MANALAPAN 2, MIDDLETOWN SOUTH 1:Junior right-hander Mark Holmes of the Braves (6-3, 3-3) won a pitcher's duel with senior Mike Dudzinski of the Eagles (1-7, 0-6) in a Class A North game.

Senior Shawn McGrane had two hits including an RBI double for Manalapan and scored the tie-breaking run in the fourth inning.

Manalapan leftfielder Dan Ciprut made a running catch in the gap in the sixth inning with a runner on second to protect the lead.

Both hurlers went the distance on six-hitters with Dudzinski striking out 10 and Holmes two.

MANASQUAN 6, RUMSON 5: Tom Phillips' two-out single in the bottom of the 12th inning scored Brendan Leehan with the winning run as the Warriors (4-3, 3-3) outlasted the No. 10 Purple Bulldogs (5-1, 4-1) in a Class A Central game.
Sophomore Karl Fiske pitched the last six innings for his first varsity win in relief of Steve Kircher who went the first six.

Rumson sent the game into extra innings on a two-run double by Gary Costello in the seventh.


MANCHESTER 9, PINELANDS 7 (8): Senior right-hander Ryan Casey went to 4-0 when the Hawks (5-1, 5-1) scored twice in the top of the eighth inning to down the Wildcats (2-6, 1-5) in a Class B South game.
Chris Martisofski and Anthony Palmiotto (3-for-5 with two RBI) had RBI singles in the eigth for Manchester which visits Barnegat Friday in a first place showdown.
Casey pitched the final four innings for the victory.

RED BANK CATHOLIC 8, MIDDLETON NORTH 5: The Caseys (5-3) rolled up a 7-0 lead as Nick Romano had two singles and two RBI and reserve first baseman L.B. Ligett came off the bench for a Kyle O' Neill (ankle injury) and added two hits and an RBI in a nondivision win over the Lions (5-3). O'Neill had two hits and two RBI before he left.
Mike Yaccarine pitched five innings in relief for the win.


ST. JOHN VIANNEY 7, HOLMDEL 3 Greg DeLuise singled home the tying and go-ahead runs in a five-run sixth inning when the Lancers (6-1, 4-1) rallied to defeat the Hornets (3-3, 2-2) in a Class A Central game.

Marc Teel had an RBI single in the inning.

Andrew Archer's solo home run in the fourth for Vianney cut a Holmdel lead to 3-2.

Nick Renna went 4-for-4 and drove in all three runs for Holmdel.

Senior outfielder Chris Lewnes (ankle) came back off an injury for St. John Vainney and went 3-for-4 and scored one run. Lewnes had missed three games.

ST. ROSE 9, SHORE 1:Sophomore shortstop Chris Bresnahan went 2-for-5 and singled home a run in four-run seventh inning when the Purple Roses (3-0, 3-0) broke open the Class B Central game and ended the six-game winning streak of the Blue Devils (6-1, 6-1).

Anthony Ranaudo went 2-for-3 with a first-inning single for St. Rose.

Rob Sommers had two hits for Shore.

St. Rose junior right-hander Casey Cannon went the distance in his first varsity start.

TOMS RIVER EAST 7, LACEY 2:Sean Gavin had an RBI single in three-run first inning and Pete Dacenko an RBI base hit in a three-run second when the Raiders (4-3, 4-3) took control and went on to a Class A South win over the Lions (1-6, 1-4)

Gavin finished 3-for-3 and stole two bases for TR East which snapped a three-game losing streak.
Tim Smith had a two-run single in the first inning for Lacey.

WALL 6, FREEHOLD 5 (10): Matt Logan had an RBI single and pinch runner Nick Gacos tagged up and scored the tying run from second base on a long out by Andrew Otterberg in the ninth inning enabling the Knights (6-1, 5-0) to pull out a dramatic 10-inning victory over the Colonials (2-3, 2-2) in a Class B North game.

In the 10th Drew Pinero singled with the bases loaded to end the game.

Senior Craig Hughes of Wall struck out nine over the first seven inningss and Matt Yuhas of Freehold struck out two before the game went into extra innings tied, 3-3.

Logan went 3-for-4 for Wall and Neil Bolton was 2-for-4 with two runs scored for Freehold.

Wall hosts Ocean 3:45 p.m. Friday.

Midd. South just can not score, it seems like the only conistant offensive production comes from Junior 3B Eric Dunn, who I hope gets a All-Conference look if he keeps it up, other then that the offense hurts to watch which is a shame because of there great pitching staff.
