Raritan defeats Shore, 16-6. Bangs out 20 hits including 10 doubles. Charlie Rivera four hits. (Please see full coverage on separate blog)



Colts Neck 12, Point Beach 0 - Dom Hayes throws four innings of one-hit ball, 8Ks.



Jackson 10, Monmouth 4 - Ryan Guarino key two-run triple.

Manalapan 5, New Brunswick 4 - Braves win with two in bottom of the ninth.


Matawan 12, Keansburg 3 - Kevin Knox 3-for-3, 3 RBI Corey Dollear 3-for-4, 4 4 RBI. for the Huskies (9-13). Winning pitcher Matt Mizerek went the distance. Keansburg is 7-11.

Jaguars growling again
Post double figure runs for first time since late April

It's been a long time between double figure run production for Jackson. But the drought, which lasted some three weeks, ended Friday.
""We're hoping our guys become more consistent now with the sticks,'' said coach Frank Malta after the 10th-seeded Jaguars eliminated No. 23 Monmouth Regional, 10-4 in a Shore Conference Tournament first round game.

Jackson (17-6) advances to meet Shore Conference Class A South rival Toms River South next week. The teams split their reguylar season meetings.

""This would would be a good time to start to score some more runs, get the offense going a little more,'' said Malta.

Sennor right fielder Ivan Cartagena led a 12-hit attack with a 4-for-4 performance and scored three runs.
""We have been hoping to hit our stride at this point, maybe this is it,'' said Malta.


Junior second baseman Ryan Guarino belted a two-run triple in a four-run fourth inning that snapped a 4-4 tie.

Cory Carr had a three-run double in the third inning when Jackson took a 4-2 lead.

Pat Goughran hit two home runs for Monmouth (9-11). The senior catcher tagged a solo shot in the second inning and tied the score with a two-run home run in the fourth.

FREEHOLD TOWNSHIP 13, BARNEGAT 3: The 16th-seeded Patriots (12-8) sailed into the next round vs. top-seeded Toms River North with a win over the No. 17 Bengals (13-10).
Freehold Township rode a grand slam and two-run shot by Chris Ballester to a six-run second inning and an 8-3 lead.
Ballester went 2-for-3 with four RBI while Ian MacLean had two run-scoring singles, Chase Majewski two hits and scored three runs, and catcher Steve Panarese added two hits and scored two runs.
Sean Collins had a two-run single for Barnegat and he and Sean Deering each had two hits for the Bengals.
Freehold Twp. has won seven of its last nine games.

COLTS NECK 12, POINT BEACH 0: Senior Dom Hayes allowed one hit over four innings and struck out eight as the No. 8 seeded Cougars (17-6) advanced to play No. 9 Rumson with a win over the 25th-seeded Garnet Gulls (11-11).
Colts Neck, now within one victory of tying the single season school record set last year, got two hits and two RBI from Frank Piazza and two hits and an RBI from Pat Specchio.

MANALAPAN 5, NEW BRUNSWICK 4: Dave Becker drew a bases-loaded walk to tie the score and Nick Turano followed with a single when the Braves (16-8) rallied with two runs in the bottom of the ninth inning to pull out a nonconference win over the Zebras (8-15).
Matt Cook was the winner in relief and also began the ninth-inning with his second double of the game.
Turano and Cook had two hits and Cook scored two runs.
