Pat Biserta is good, yes, we all know he is an incredible hitter, but look at his numbers, his numbers are not deserving of 1st team All Shore.

Re Biserta: He's one of the best players, if not the best all-around player at the Shore, period. ....452, 5 HR, 19 RBI..some players would kill for numbers like that.

But it's not always about pure numbers anyway. He was a no-brainer.

Then why didnt he get Player of the Year if he is probably the best all around player in the shore.

On Biserta: Oh, I don't know. Some other player also had a pretty good year, too. Broke some sort of hallowed record.....

June 17, 2007 at 7:52 PM

Did he break it in one year? which is player of the YEAR, not player of a career.

You know..you're right. We'll put out a special edition tomorrow and change it. Just for you.

Seriously. He had a great season and broke the record en route. One cannot deny that, which in turn tipped the scales in his behalf over any challenger.

I don't know what else to tell you. That's my choice and I'm sticking to it!!

You can't change my mind. I respect your opinions/ arguments/etc., but that's the way it is.

Dont get me wrong Keith is an outstanding player, and had a terrific season, but it would have bene cool to give the award to the Laufer boys, I know its PLAYER of the year but hey what the heck.

I looked at ALL of the stats that were in the all shore selections on Sunday and even after throwing the HR record out the window (that was REAL hard to do) I still see a player who had the biggest impact on the game...EVERY game he played wether it was hitting an HR, walking 3 X's (obviously not by his choice) or just being an influence on the opposition's coach who, as Coach York said, " We gotta find someone to get Tuna out" in order to stay in the game...other kids (or TWINS !!!) had great years but Winkofsky had ANOTHER stellar offensive year with numbers that really if you broke them down as a coach or stat guy ,, boggles the mind....What HS player gets 80+ walks in a HS career??? 80 BB is crazy ....
I for one enjoyed watching ALL of these SC kids play and I can onl;y hope there are a couple left for next year..and the year after..and the year after..thanks TONY for another great year and hope to see you at a contest soon !!!

the laufers are both great players, but neither one of them is even close to being at keith's level so it wouldnt make much sense to give them the award would it?

To last poster. Thank you.

I don't think the Laufer poster was being all that serious. They are very, very good players and ought to have nice careers at BC.

They should wear the same number in college just to fool everyone.

I will hold the argument for the LAUFERS or TALERICO...they were dominant in the shore and the three of them were neck and neck for leaders in everything in the shore offensively

well you dont have much of an argument because they just simply arent as good as tuna

When and where are the all county & all state teams announced? Do you feel any of our shore boys have a chance to make any of those teams? Are you the 'voice of the shore' for these boys? What I mean is do you have input for these team's selections?

The Asbury Park Press does publish the Associated Press All-State teams which will be voted on later this week at a meeting of NJ high school baseball writers..We do not publish any county teams.

I have strongly submitted a few names (you can probably guess who they are) for FIRST TEAM consideration....and we'll see what happens.

Re Pat Biserta - though he had very good numbers locally I doubt if he matches up well enough state wide this year...

Please....Biserta is a great player......last year!! Rosario from Monsignor Donovan who also plays in B South had outstanding numbers better than his. How was he rewarded...No Carpenters Cup ...No First Team All Shore Who votes on this? How can you be first in Ocean County and only 2nd team in Shore or not be invited to the Carpenters Cup. It makes no sense. Please just look at the numbers and don't say its not all about numbers, if its not about numbers then what is it about..Looking good in your uniform?? I follow all the teams and there are some great players in Ocean and Monmouth County and I feel as an impartial fan that he was overlooked.

Biserta is a great player - period - and I'm not knocking Rosario who had a fabulous year.

So - if you were picking Carp Cup team and All-Shore - straight one vs. the other - then you would take Rosario over Biserta then?

Not sure I could do that one-on-one.

Anyone else have a thought on this??

I would definately take Rosario over Biserta this year. Rosario can also play all 9 positions on the field, something not too many people know, he has a cannon of an arm, from the outfield without crow hopping. I've seen him in warm ups and was really impressed. I do think Biserta will have a great college career because he is a fine ball player.

Listen... this conversation is getting interesting!!! Shore Baseball at its best. I've been around a long time coached a ton of kids. I've been following these guys for years. Two great ballplayers and better young men. Although Biserta had a good year, Rosarios numbers for this year speak for themselves. They're outstanding. There's not much more to say. They do use stats to get into the CC. To answer your question, based on the year Rosario had I'd take him.

Corruption reaks throughout Ocean Township Baseball program as I am sure in many other townships as well. Please believe me, stats are altered to the coaches advantage to advance his/their careers and please the "right" folks in town. Fielders choices are counted as hits to the "right" players, errors coaches don't record. It is a dishonest program and I have called them out.And no one will change my mind to my grave. Dishonesty is covered up, but too many who have witnessed this mess were not fooled and have good insight. And I mean educated men, not moms. And as far as old man Tony Grahm. He is short sited, from the old school, stuck on "names" and new blood need to replace him as a reporter. His generation is over. One old-man's opinion is almost worth nothing and is not democratic. He is stuck on "names" not performance. Read his blog and see the oppositions and flack he is receiving and well deserved. Sorry Tony, time to retire, you are out of touch. None of this is in mean sprited because we are no longer involved but I will continue to expose the corruption and dishonesty

Well....I'll stick with our All-Shore team (you expect I wouldn't?)....I can see where there are even more arguments for his making the CC team.....

Re: Corruption. Right. Those 30 home runs by Weinkofsky were made up by the corrupt Ocean baseball political machine.

I can't imagine I didn't uncover that myself.

I absolutely should retire then.

But one little thing.. before I do - could you please spell my name right?

Thank you so much...

Ref: Corruption..he is actually a SHE and is obviously NUTs....Tony you and your staff did a great job covering all of the shore sports this year and the BB season was no different from the first pitch in the snow in early april to the 12 inn affairs in TR to the 12 inn affair with OT and Seneca to the SJV--CBA jams to the All Shore teams and coaches..people who have an agenda speak out of turn and that women needs to watch alot more games in the SC than just the Ocean games to realize that there are MANY players that are of "All Shore" quality and if SHE thinks coach Del at Ocean is screwing things up SHE really needs to get out and see some other programs play before SHE renders that comment..ANYWAY keep up the good work Tony and by the way "Thank GOD" the Ledger picked the TUNA as player of the year in Monmouth CTY ...now we don't have to wonder if YOU are the crazy one !!!!! Imagine that even the Ledger had Tuna as POY in Monmouth along with Tallerico in Ocean Cty and Slate as pitcher of the year...even you got that one right Tony !!!! :) :)
