A tough one here because it was not really Rumson that lost 62-0 it was its JV team. Are we really penaizing the Varsity squad because the coach made this decision? On the other hand, I do not know the last time I saw any sectional finalist lose 62-0.

they should definitely drop, they lost...they knew what they were doing and that's the risk and sacrifice they made...if they win the championship, you can have them ranked again.

Well if you go by talent and potential then RFH MAY be a lower tier top 10 team. If you are judging based on performance and recognition, then RFH clearly does not deserve to be ranked at all. It should be simple to find 10 other teams that performed better and deserve a ranking.

RFH should not drop in the poll. They proved themselves during the season when it counted for playoffs. Period the end!

The Thanksgiving game should not affect their standing because it means absolutely nothing! A coach and team should have the right to practice a better-safe-than-sorry approach and keep their best players out of harm's way for their final high school sectional title game. A game that they have been preparing for since Pop Warner.

This is a once in a lifetime opportunity for these boys and they should not have risked themselves for a game that is merely a tradition. Coach Fallon made the choice based on what was best for his team at this point in their lives. Perhaps a team should be given an option to play after a states game rather than have a coach be put into a position that Coach Fallon was placed; he was damned with either decision and the respective consequences. I'm sure it was the most diificlt call he has ever had to make as a coach!

GO DAWGS!

Although I am personally not too sure that Rumson should drop from the rankings, I am not going to let this little bit of hyperbole go unchecked. What you just said anonymous is ridiculous. Teams make that decision every year. It goes hand in hand with making the finals. Yet, this was the first year I can remember that an entire team was rested in this way to the tune of a 63-0 dumper whipping.

Now I do not think this reflects on the team as a whole, it does make the finals a MUST win for Rumson. Because if they lose...

No it is not the end. It is a black mark on their record and it will go in the history books. A team that gets beat 61-0 does not deserve to be ranked. Period the end!

you got to drop them because it wasn't a gurantee that rumson was gonna win if the starters did play.

61-0 counts as a regular season loss. C'mon writers, it is no different than if key members of a team were injured.

You lose 61-0 you should drop out of the rankings. It is embarassing that they stayed in there...once again have some guts. They lost whether it was JV or not...they LOST. That is what rankings are about, Wins and Loses. Steve Falk dropped the ball here.
