No. 4 Toms River East 4, Toms River South 3, final

Chris Wedding pitched out of jams in the sixth and seventh innings and got the final six outs in relief and Pete Dacenko's ground out plated Brady Doyle with what turned out to be the winning run in the top of the sixth as the No. 3 Raiders (3-0, 3-0) made it 12 wins in their last 13 meetings with the Indians (3-2, 2-2) in a key Class A South game at Toms River South's Ken Frank Baseball Stadium.
Wedding, who started the game at third base and had driven in the go-ahead run in the fifth with a suicide squeeze bunt, got slugger Joe Talerico to ground out to short for the game's final out with runners on first and second in the bottom of the seventh. Talerico had tripled, walked twice and scored two runs earlier in the game.
Toms River South had mounted a two-out rally when Chase Gray walked and moved to second on a wild pitch and Jake DelVento walked. Wedding had struck out the first two batters of the inning.
In the sixth, Wedding came on with runners on first and second and nobody out after starter Pete Fitzsimmons (1-0) had walked two batters to start the inning and got the next three batters, including Mark Perry on a run-scoring ground out.
Toms River East broke a 2-2 tie in the fifth when Ryan Dolan led off with a double off sophomore right-hander Tyler Gebler (2-1) and scored on Wedding's suicide squeeze.
The Raiders extended the lead to 4-2 in the top of the sixth on Dacenko's RBI ground out, scoring Brady Doyle, who had doubled and moved to third on a sacrifice bunt by John Lightbody.
Toms River South tied the game with two runs with two out in the bottom of the first. Talerico started the rally with a triple. Ryan Kapp delivered an RBI single up the middle and Tyler Gebler singled to center with Kapp scoring when the ball was misplayed.
Toms River East grabbed a 2-0 lead in the top of the first on a one-out, two-run home run by senior second baseman Sean Gavin after Frank DeHart had singled.
