Rosario leads Griffins
DONOVAN 5, PINELANDS 2: Senior Paul Rosario and junior Andy Gannon both slugged two--run homers in the fifth to give the Griffins (2-0, 2-0) a 5-0 lead and Rosario retired all three batters he faced for his second save in as many games as Monsignor Donovan defeated the Wildcats (1-2, 0-2).
The Griffins, who started 0-10 last year, are 2-0 for the first time since 2000.
Sophomore left-hander Mark Poinsett pitched six-plus innings of five-hit ball with five strikeouts to pick up his first varsity win.
Pat Henderson had an RBI single in the first and went 2-for-3 and Chris Khoudary and Ken Ouimet also both went 2-for-3.
