GAME REPORTS

Asbury Park High School baseball coach Johnny Grosso is a firm believer that someday the Blue Bishops will be a consistent winner.

""It's not impossible. It'sjust going to take time,'' said Grasso.

Maybe the time is near. The Blue Bishops, now 1-7, scored three runs in the second inning,
and six in the third to defeat St. Patrick's (Elizabeth) 11-3 for their first victory since
May 23 in 2005 when they beat Neptune.

""We have put a lot of hard work in and it is good to see it pay off, especially for the
kids who have stuck with the program,'' said Grasso, who is in his first year, and was
enjoying the team celebration on the bus as they returned home.

He had a right to be happy. The winning pitcher was George Stephens III, a freshman
right-hander, who worked the first four innings.

Along the way he had seven strikeouts. And he was just as important to the offense. He
cracked a two-run double in the third inning to help the Bishops pull away. Frank Banegas had
a two-run single to spark the three-run second.

Kemar Gittens and Jeron Valentine finished up on the mound for the Bishops.

""The emotions are way up there for these kids right now,'' said the coach.""Hopefully we
can win a a few more.''

The last time Asbury Park has won more than one game was in 2002.

Re: Freehold game. We have the score and box score but I guess we didn't get it to the blog. I apologize. It was a little wild in here tonight.

I was mainly doing the Wiz story and others were pitching in (get the pun!)to help with baseball and also had their own responsibilities.

We try and get every game on the blog if we can.

Those of you chatting about this "foul" HR at the Cen-Barnegat game.

I really have no idea what transpired.

I did talk to the CR coach. He never mentioned it.

RE: Colts Neck game.

First of all...yes, we did miss posting the Colts Neck game on the blog (as we did the Freehold game).

I personally took this game so blame me (though I thought I did post it, my bad).

Secondly...your comment about me and the coach..was..how can I say this delicately....let' see how about...well - STUPID!!.

I have the upmost respect for Mike Yorke and never would I take anything out on kids anyway....at any school - any where.

Where did you ever come up with such a ridiculous idea?

Now...I just called the Press and had the write up sent to me..here it is and I will post it on the blog as well.

A huge night for Action Ashton Jackson!!!
