THE SKINNY: CBA is shooting for its fifth trip to the Non-Public A final since 2001 and its and its first state title since 1977. St. Joseph's, which has won five of its last six games, made its only trip to the state final in 1989. Slate, who has allowed three earned runs all season, has committed to the University of Maine and the Laufer twins to Boston College. St. Joseph's Brown, said to be the best defensive shortstop in the GMC (Greater Middlsex County Conference), has committed to Seton Hall and Ciardiello to Holy Cross. Both teams have Red Bank Catholic (CBA won 4-0 behind Slate ) as a common opponent. CBA will play for the Shore Conference Tournament championship Wednesday. St. Joseph's was upset in the quarterfinals of the GMC Tournament. Today's winner plays the Immaculata-Seton Hall Prep winner in Saturday's championship game.
My pick....CBA can hit with most anyone. Slate can stop most anyone (well, everyone so far in '07). CBA, 4-1.
