Freehold/Central coaches resign

Freehold's Steve Kochinski told me tonight he has stepped down for personal and professional reasons and plans to obtain a Master's degree.

Freehold (according to our records) was 47-42 in four years under Kochinski, 8-11 this year. Paced by slugging first baseman Ryan Cuneo (who went on to Delaware U.) Freehold tied Wall for the B North title last year (10-2) and was 17-8 overall.

Central's Jerry Frulio has also left coaching for personal reasons. Central was 4-14-1 this season, his sixth at the helm. His letter of resignation was accepted tonight (Wednesday) by the local board of education.

Frulio - I believe (I am doing this from home) was a former Central player and may have played under the legendary Al Kunzman.

For those of you who think this may be the place to fire off less than becoming comments about various individuals - guess what? - it's not.

To RJ - again - this isn't the place to take that type of shot at a high school coach.

You want to admonish a pro coach making millions or maybe a college coach whose only responsibility is coaching - well maybe I run it.

You want to talk strategy? Make a second guess? OK.

But otherwise, go tell him face to face - or write a letter to your board of ed - or whoever - don't hide behind a blog...
