Central Reg. names new baseball coach
Central Regional Athletic Director Vincent Casale confirmed on Thursday night that John Scran will be the new head baseball coach for the Golden Eagles for the 2008 season. Previously, Scran was the school district's middle school baseball coach for the last four years.
""I want to thank the Board of Education and the adminstration for putting the trust in me,'' Scran said. ""I'm looking to get us back on track and get us competitive and play some fundamentally sound baseball.''
Scran is a former first baseman at Toms River East and he also played at Ocean County College.
Central, which was noted for championship teams when the late Al Kunzman was coaching the Leiter brothers, was 4-14-1 last season, 4-8 in Shore Conference Class B South.
