Frazier signs with Reds

Former TR South and Rutgers standout Todd Frazer has signed with Cincinnati, the web site Reds.com reported Sunday night.

Todd, a junior, was the 34th pick in th 2007 draft

He painted himself throughout the Rutgers record book in 2007 finishing with a school record 42 home runs and finishing in the top-6 in every single-season offensive category, excluding triples.

He broke the Rutgers single-season record for home runs (22), home runs by a leadoff hitter (22), runs scored (87), walks (62), doubles (24) and total bases (187), all set this season. He also finished second in slugging percentage (.757), second in at bats (247), tied for third in runs batted in (65), fifth in hits (93), and tied for sixth in stolen bases (25).

According to the Cincinnati Post and Baseball America, Todd received an 825,000 signing bonus and will report to rookie ball in Billings, Mont

The rumors I heard is that Todd will stay in Billings till the end of July so he can get into "playing condition" and get live swings in and then be moved up to "A" ball with the Dayton Dragons come August.

Wasn't he a first round pick. Don't they usually get more money than 825k.

He was a supplemental pick, technically a first rounder. Anyway..that's what he got.

Congrats to Todd he has been such proud act to follow from the shore.
I saw the article today on Val majeski(sp) He was one of the finest players at the shore in my opinion. He could swing it catch it throw it and played with a such a posative attiutde I sure hope he makes back to the show. Love to see all the shore confernce players in the bigs do well

RE: Signing Bonus

The 34th pick of last years draft got a 900K signing bonus, so it really depends on what team drafts you. Dont forget, Todd took a month off to spend time with his family and friends... which also probably hurt him money-wise

Anyways, I guess we will see how he will adjust to the wooden bat.

Todd is one of the hardest working kids that I ever seen play the game, I'm sure he has a ton of motivation to prove all 'experts' wrong that believe he is too big and too slow to play shortstop at the next level

1st game as a pro: Frazier 2-4 with a RBI. Good start to his career.
