2007 Monmouth County Tournament seedings

2007 Monmouth Couunty Tournament

Upper bracket - (17) Red Bank Regional at (16) Henry Hudson winner plays at (1) CBA; (9) Keyport at (8) RBC; (12) Raritan at (5) Middletown North; (13) Neptune at (4) Shore Regional.

Lower bracket - 19) Long Branch at (14) Manasquan winner plays at (3) St. Rose; (11) Ocean at (6) St. John Vianney; (10) Holmdel at (7) Monmouth; (18) Middletown South at (15) Keansburg) winner plays at No. 2 Wall.

First two rounds to be completed by April 28th, quarterfinals by May 5th, semifinals by May 12. Championship game 10:30 a.m. May 19 at Monmouth Regional High School.

Schools not participating: Asbury Park, Colts Neck, Freehold, Freehold Township, Howell, Manalapan, Matawan, Mater Dei, Rumson.

Teams were seeded by records. First round match ups of same division teams were avoided if possible.

Committee members: Tony Martinez (RBC), Ted Jarmusz (Monmouth), Jeff Karpell (Shore), Marty Kenny (CBA).

Talked with Freehold Reg. School Supt. Jim Wasser today about those schools not being in the tournament.

Bascially it seems to be a lack of drivers..not money or buses. More on this the next day or two. He was still holding out some hope for this year but that's a dead issue now according to the MCT director Ted Jarmusz.

Wasser hopes to have the schools back in the event next year.

With CBA being almost a guaranteed No. 1 seed, where do you see schools like Ocean, Wall, Colts Neck, etc. falling in the mix?

It's done on a combination of record and theoretical rankings..all of the above should be fairly high I would think..

Who determines the seeds and when do you suppose these seedings will be released?

There is a commitee that is meeting as we speak. Mainly the seeds are based on current records (not much to go on).

We should have them any time this evening...I'd say between 8 and 9.

I can tell you one thing..they won't be starting Thursday! (see weather forecast).

Probably next week. Maybe some court start Saturday but remember these games are dead last on the scheduling totem pole.

I will post the dates when I find out.
