6 Comments:
correction north is 22-4 not 22-6
Tony are you going to have updates of the TRE game tonight as it happens?
I think Shore got a REAL taste of what the top competition is about in the SC...Slate and Laufer on the Hill and the BOYZ slammin a few...Hey Tony lets think about records if lets say CBA was in the same conference as Shore or Ocean was in the same conference as Shore...I doubt if St Rose or Shore would have too many wins or even have hitters in the top of the class..and as for the Shore HR hitter...please not in the same class as these other MEN
That's like saying if Keyport was in the American Division (the Group IVs) in football.
Not fair to the kids to compare. They do well in the division (in this case B Central) in which they are asked to compete. Anything beyond that is gravy.
No one really expects them to win the SCT......
If the kid from Shore (Todd Juliano) breaks the HR record KW ser yesterday..it WILL.. be recognized as the Shore Conference record..as it should be...
If a player at Monmouth U. ever broke the NCAA HR record (whatever that is) would it count? Of course it would.
I'm not going to say the smaller division schools are not deserving but to improve their chances in the County or Shore Conference Tourney why not schedule more out of conference games to give the kids a taste of what to expect at crunch time lets say facing a Hughes, Slate, or any of the top tier pitchers in regular season has to greatly build their confidence in the post season, I have to admitt they were like deer in the head lights yesterday at CBA. Tony you've been around a long time and seen that the last teams standing usually have a few losses. Thats because of the bigger schedule the coaches from these programs at TRE, TRS, CBA, Wall, Ocean and others play 30-35 games a year and they aren't afraid to lose a few along the way, thats why they are real BB programs not perenial 22-4 teams that don't play into June
With the exception of St. Rose..which played in the SC, MCT, played TRN, and usually tries to schedule "up" a few games, it doesn't really make lots of sense - in my opinion - for the small schools to schedule the big guys..
Most of the time it helps neither party...Shore this year beat Neptune, Red Bank, and Raritan....and played in the SC and got to the semifinals of the MCT ...That's a very good job by them.
Some years back Keyport won the MCT.
