Weinkosky bombs two more..draws within two home runs of Shore Conference history. Weinkofsky - "I'm not thinking about the record."

The weather is warming up and so is Ocean Township slugger Keith Weinkofsky.

""Your body gets loosened up (with the better weather),'' said Weinkofsky who has been on the loose with the long ball for a week.

The senior catcher led off the fifth and seventh innings Thursday with home runs to draw within two of the Shore Conference career home run record to help lead the No. 2 Spartans (13-3, 8-2) to their 11th victory in a row, 6-3 over Monmouth Regional (7-7, 6-5) in a Ahore Conference Class B North game.

Weinkofsky's second two home run game in two days and third since last Thursday boosted him to 25 for his career and six this season. Jackson's Marc Fink hit a conference season record 14 in 1994 en route to the conference career record of 27.

Weinkofsky, No. 3 in the batting order, said the fact that Eric Hinkle is hitting well behind him and that Jamie Rosenkranz and Kyle Norman have been reaching base ahead of him have also been factors.

""Teams have no place to put me,'' he said. ""I'm not thinking about the record, just trying to hit the ball so we can win games.''

Ocean will be shooting for its 12th win a row Friday when it hosts Matawan.

Monmouth coach Ted Jarmusz said Weinkosfky hit a 2-1 change up for his first home run Thursday.
"'We were actually pitching around him in the seventh,'' said Jarmusz. ""He went with the pitch which was about 3-4 inches off the plate and hit out to right center.''

Rosenkranz tripled home a run for Ocean in the sixth innng and Norman hit an RBI double in the third.

Jeff Roach, Mike Sevilla, Cole DeAngelis, and C.J. Pratt all had two hits for Monmouth Regional.

Hinkle went the distance for Ocean getting a ground ball to end the game with the bases loaded.

St Rose will eat TUNA for breakfast next week in the Monmouth County Tournament
Just having fun
Could be the best match up of the season thus far if the "Big Purple Unit" is on the mound

Looks like the Tuna is running out of time and games as 3 teams back out of regular season commitments with Ocean Twp. Next week Mater Dei, TRE and the following week St Rose (They will play OT just once in the MCT)...thats about 10 less AB's toward the record..could be a tough road for the TUNA
