New Shore Conference realignment story for 2008-2009, 2009-2010 school years

The Middletown High School South and Wall High School football programs will renew a divisional rivalry in 2008.
The two schools, which competed in the Shore Federal Division for several years before the conference's current bi-annual realignment placed them in different divisions beginning last September, will both be in the Federal Division again for the 2008 and 2009 seasons.
The conference's football and general realignments for both the 2008-2009 and 2009-2010 school years were approved recently by the Shore Conference's Executive Committee and announced Saturday by Shore Conference President Bill Bruno.
Wall, which is currently in the Shore Liberty Division, will swap places with Ocean in the next realignment.
The Shore Conference's realignment for football is done mostly according to school enrollment.
The conference's football alignment consists of six divisions: American, Constitution, Federal, Liberty, National and Patriot.
The American Division will have the conference's seven largest football-playing members, and the Patriot will have the conference's eight smallest schools, according to enrollment.
Other significant football changes include: Toms River East and Marlboro dropping into the Constitution Division from the American Division; Manalapan and Howell moving up to the American Division from the Constitution; Pinelands dropping two divisions, from the Federal to the National Division, and Monsignor Donovan will drop into the Patriot Division from the National.
Also, Jackson Liberty, which opened its doors last September and is expected to play an independent varsity football schedule this fall, will be in the Federal Division in 2008.
The general realignment, which covers sports like basketball, wrestling, baseball, soccer and tennis, is based on both enrollment and geography.
The conference's general alignment consists of six divisions: Class A North; Class A South; Class A Central; Class B North; Class B South and Class B Central.
Class A North consists of the conference's eight largest Monmouth County schools, Class A South has the conference's eight largest Ocean County schools and Class B Central has the conference's seven smallest schools.
Significant general realignment changes for 2008 will see Shore Regional moving up to class A Central from Class B Central, Matawan moving into Class A Central from Class B North and Red Bank Regional moving into Class B North from Class A Central.
Jackson Liberty will be placed in Class B South, an all-Ocean County Division.
